#lifeatfon: Rebecca Moy, Fontech Product Marketing Specialist

Next up in our #lifeatfon series is an interview with Rebecca Moy, Fontech Product Marketing Specialist.

Describe your Fon journey!

I joined Fon at the start of 2017. At the beginning, I spent most of my time polishing up our marketing materials in terms of English and providing editing and copy support. As time has gone by, though, I’m happy to say that I’m now increasingly involved in both generating product materials in new formats and in conversations regarding planning our content distribution. Unofficially, I also send out a semi-regular “newsletter” that includes English tips that is meant to help my coworkers get even better at the language in a way that (I hope!) is funny.

What does a typical day look like for you?

On a typical day, I start work by catching up with my teammates and discussing ongoing or upcoming projects. From there, I either get started on my own projects like video recording, creating presentations, and scripts or providing support to my teammates either through editing, testing marketing automation tasks, and even translating when necessary. At times I help other teams, especially in terms of English editing.

I really enjoy being able to collaborate with lots of different people across the company. It’s a great way to learn more about the business, how other teams work, as well as generally being a fun way to get to know colleagues.

Can you describe your team?

My team is the best! Not only do I respect them as true professionals, they are also a great group of people on a personal level. The combination of our different personalities really works for us, and I find it really easy to work with them, making us a pretty productive and engaged team. Together, we know how to work hard, but we also spend a lot of time laughing!

The best thing about my job is…

Being encouraged to use my creativity. In Product Marketing, there are so many different ways that we can present and talk about what we offer. I really enjoy trying out new formats and finding the best one for each type of message. And since my colleagues are very supportive, I am lucky to be able to focus on these kinds of projects which is a fun and satisfying process.

One great example of this is video production. Cisco predicts that, by 2020, 82% of consumer internet traffic will be video, and it is a great way to engage with our audience. So I have recently been working hard on producing lots of video content. This is something that we hadn’t done so much of before, so it was a great opportunity to come up with a creative plan of how best to explain our solutions and use cases to our target audience. And through the process of creating, recording, and editing the videos I have learned so much! I get a lot of satisfaction seeing these videos being used so broadly.

The best thing about Fon is…

The atmosphere. My coworkers are extremely professional and hardworking but also caring and great humans. And that is true of everyone I’ve come into contact with at this company.

Why would you recommend Fon?

Fon is a great place to learn, grow, and be part of a very interesting and innovative industry. It’s also a place full of kind people.

Thanks, Rebecca!
