Rapid expansion of the Fon Network in Asia-Pacific!

2017 has been an important year of expansion for our WiFi footprint, especially for the Fon Network in Asia-Pacific!

In our last post, we announced an exciting new partnership with Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT Group), bringing their subscriber base of four million people seamless WiFi access on the go. But not only do SLT Group’s customers now have access to millions of Fon Spots globally, but the Fon community can now enjoy WiFi connectivity at thousands of new hotspots across Sri Lanka.

And, that’s not the only new footprint in the network! This year we’ve rapidly expanded our footprint across Asia-Pacific! Thanks to new roaming agreements with major operators such as Telekom Malaysia, Korea Telecom, and Softbank, Fon’s global network now includes almost three million hotspots in the region.

As well as geographical expansion, another notable addition to the network this year has been prime public locations! In addition to aggregating residential networks, we’ve been working hard to give our members WiFi access in airports, shopping malls, train stations, and restaurant chains all over the world.

Most recently, we added almost 800,000 premium locations to the Fon Network in Asia-Pacific, specifically in Malaysia, Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan, and China.
