Fon Is One of the Key Exhibitors at 4YFN, Mobile World Congress 2015

26 FEBRUARY 2015. MADRID & BARCELONA.- Fon, the global WiFi network, will be exhibiting at 4 Years From Now (4YFN), an event dedicated to innovation in the mobile and digital arena – part of GSMA Mobile World Congress. 4YFN is the perfect ecosystem for Fon after a year full of innovations.

For yet another year, serial entrepreneur and Fon CEO Martin Varsavsky will be one of the key speakers at the event. During his session, scheduled for March 3rd at 1:00pm, Varsavsky will discuss how to foster entrepreneurship: Can it be taught? Moreover, Fon COO Alex Puregger and Head of R&D David Valerdi will share their vision about the future of WiFi and the landscape of social and smart homes in the coming years, in different keynote slots.

Fon’s booth, located at Hall M8 SO365, will showcase its latest innovations: Gramofon, the award-winning music streaming device that delivers best-in-class WiFi connectivity and advanced audio streaming. In addition to Spotify Connect, Gramofon is now compatible with Qualcomm AllPlay that allows users to play multiple additional music services including Rhapsody, Napster, Aupeo and music stored locally. Other new features include the “multi-room mode”, to play different music on each speaker, and “party mode”, to play the same music on every speaker all around the home. Both will be demoed fully-synchronized with AllJoyn smart lights.

WiFi for Business, Fon’s solution for small and medium-sized enterprises will also be featured at 4YFN. Fon will demo its fully-customizable solution which combines WiFi access for guests with relevant data analytics for business owners.

“Innovation is part of our DNA. Fon’s vision is to be always on, always on the move, thinking ahead about what the connected future will look like. That is why we are in our element at 4YFN”, says Alex Puregger, Fon COO.

Mobile World Capital Barcelona and Fon will lead a pilot project called SICAFE* (System for access control and flow management of people at an event), in collaboration with Aditium and Deustotech. Foneras will be installed throughout Fira Montjuic and their sensors will help monitor the flows of people during the event, via non-personal information collected from WiFi-enabled devices.

Additionally, Fon and other operators will use their cutting-edge technology to demonstrate a Next Generation Hotspot WiFi network deployed in the Mobile World Congress venue. Fon members attending the event can easily configure their devices to connect seamlessly and securely to this network at no additional cost.

* Basque Government and FEDER funds have partially funded this project.
