Fon & Windows 10: Getting connected has never been so easy
We are excited to announce Fon WiFi passes are now accessible via the Windows Store. Thanks to the new Windows 10 feature, users simply need to login with their Windows Store credentials to make a purchase. Customers with registered payment details can purchase a WiFi pass with just 1 click. The best part? These users won’t need to login every time they start a session or go to a different Fon Hotspot – connectivity will be enabled seamlessly throughout the validity of their WiFi pass!
“We’re thrilled to be working with Fon to bring a better WiFi experience to millions of hotspot locations globally,” said Microsoft’s Windows Store Core Program Management Director, Gregg Harmon.
At Fon we are committed to make WiFi accessible and improve the connection experience so that everybody loves WiFi. Today we are extremely proud to announce that we have worked with our carrier partners to tackle that problem together. From now on, Windows 10 users will have a better WiFi experience at Fon Spots. At the same time we help our Fon carrier partners with another challenge, and that is how to better monetize WiFi networks. So, it’s really a win-win for everybody.
The good news doesn’t stop there – we are also excited to announce that Fon has started to expand beyond residential WiFi hotspots. Together with our partners, we have added thousands of premium WiFi locations to our map. This includes over 50 airports in Spain, and a wide variety of public spaces in top tourist destinations like Barcelona, Rome, and Cartagena de Indias, as well as international hotels chains across Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America, are also now under the Fon umbrella. And there are many more venues to come!
These two exciting milestones are a big step forward in regards to the user experience and to making WiFi more accessible for people. It has the potential to change the whole WiFi industry.
It’s been a pleasure to work with the Microsoft team. And, of course, a big thank you to the Fon team.
